As an aside, I was curious to find the number of Historically Black College/Universities in California, thinking that perhaps these institutions should help the number of AA in higher education. To my surprise, the whole state of California has 1 HBCU, in comparison to other states many times smaller than California such as South Carolina or West Virginia (both of which has more HBCUs than CA).

EVERYONE: Thanks so much for your amazing feedback and encouragement! I didn’t mention in my post that I’m also changing what I eat and reducing calories. I don’t want anyone to think I’m under the delusion that I can lose weight only by working out. Most people can’t.

1. Sweet tea from McAlister’s Deli.2. Taco Bell Spicy Chicken Burritos (but they discontinued them, boo! I get the grilled chicken burritos but they’re not the same).3. Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tarts.4. Chick-Fil-A Original Chicken sandwiches, with either cole slaw ON the sandwich or slathered in mustard, ketchup and mayo.5. Cajun popcorn, a.k.a. deep-fried crawfish tails with spicy, creamy remoulade sauce for diping, YUM.Disclaimer: I only eat these foods on occasion; the majority of my diet consists of all the standard “good-for-you” stuff. To be honest one of my favorite things is pretty damn healthy; a “Newk’s Favorite” salad with mixed dark greens, artichoke hearts, grapes, dried cranberries, pecans and grilled chicken with sherry vinagrette.
