In 2009 the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary!
Since 1970, the Festival has captured the majesty of New Orleans culture in all its glory. Widely regarded as one of Americas most unique and most cherished music festival, the world-famous event becomes the heart of the city for two unforgettable weekends. The 40th annual Festival is scheduled for April 24 – 26 and April 30 – May 3, 2009.
Thousands of musicians, chefs, and artisans are set to welcome hundreds of thousands of Festivalgoers for this cultural feast. Experience the exuberance of a second-line parade. Iry LeJeune – Calcasieu Waltz Still video
Cajun Accordion player Iry LeJeune’s Calcasieu waltz. Iry is considered one of the best Cajun musicians of all time. Almost blind from birth, all he had was family and music. Killed on October 8, 1955 while changing a flat tire.
